Ida Mirabal Moncada Obituary
Ida Mirabal Moncada lost her long, courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, in Oxnard, Calif., when the Lord sent the angels to lead Ida to a better, peaceful place.
Ida was born and grew up in Alamogordo. Her parents were Joe Dolores and Miquela Lucero Mirabal. She attended school and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1970. She married Ervin Moncada in Oxnard on March 3, 1973.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years and her three sons, three daughters and five grandchildren: Orlando Moncada and daughter Alexis and adopted son Andrew Castro; Mizael, his wife, Rebekah Hinojosa, and their daughters Jacelyn and Jayden Moncada; and third son Cristobal; daughter Serena, her husband Eric Resendez and their daughter Olivia, and daughters Iraiz and Ivon Moncada, all from Oxnard. She is also survived by her sisters Dolly Mirabal and JoAnn Fuentes and her husband, George, of Longmont, Colo.; her brothers James and his wife, Connie, of Albuquerque, Mark and his wife, Debra, of Las Cruces, Charles and his wife, Nena, of Alamogordo, and Johnny, of Alamogordo; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Alamogordo and across New Mexico.
Ida was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Rudy Mirabal; her maternal grandparents Martin and Lucia Lucero; and paternal grandparents Santiago and Gavina Mirabal.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Light, La Luz at 6 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, by the family in the area.
