Ina Bess James Obituary
Ina Bess James, 81, formerly of Pecos, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in Las Cruces. She was born on Sunday, Jan. 25, 1931, in Alpine, Txas to James Franklin and Martha Elizabeth (Johnson) Nichols.
Bess and her husband, Jesse, made Pecos their home for over 50 years. Bess was a current member of the Cloudcroft Church of Christ and formerly a member of the 4th & Bois D'Arc Church of Christ in Pecos.
She is survived by three sons Jesse James, Jr. and wife Sherry of Llano, Texas, Ike James of Lake Worth, Texas and Neil James and wife, Sylvia, of Fort Stockton, Texas; five daughters; Tommie Jo Blackstock of Midland, Texas, Mary Ann Dixon and husband Delbert of Midland, Linda Cox of Lake Worth, Texas, Mavanee Young and husband Dickie of Odessa, Texas, and Ruth Loftin and husband Bill of Alamogordo;18 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great grandchildren; her brother; Harold Nichols of Victoria, Texas; nephew, James "Jimmy" Nichols; a niece, Nancy Baker; and a sister-in-law, Martha Nichols, all of Hubbard, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James, and their infant daughter, Verna Christine James; four grandchildren, Larry Stan Smith and Brandi Kae Loftin, Rickey Ray Box and Rhonda Young Robinson; great grandson, Corey Box; her brother, Vernon "Buzz" Nichols and sons-in-law, Dale Blackstock, Larry Cox and Bill Box.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Church Of Christ, 4th and Bois D'Arc; Pecos, Texas, with Fred Dominguez officiating.
Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
The James family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
