Inella Compton, 71, of Alamogordo, passed away, Thursday, March 5, 2009, at her home.
Inella Compton was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Dermott, Ark., to the late Elmer Boatner and Lula Spencer Boatner. She united in Heaven with her late husband, Henry Compton, Jr. on March 5, 2009.
Inella accepted Christ at a young age while growing up in Dermott, Arkansas. At the time of her sudden passing Inella was an active member of The Corinth Baptist Church under the leadership of James E. Forney, Pastor.
After moving to Alamogordo, Inella met the love of her life, Henry, and they united in marriage on Feb. 7, 1959. In the early 1960's Inella and her late husband, Henry, established and operated several businesses in the Alamogordo area, Compton's Janitorial and Supply and Quality Cleaners. Inella ended a career as a dietitian taking an early retirement from the Betty Dare Good Samaritan Center.
Inella was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, J.D. Boatner, Larry Boatner, Jimmy Boatner and one sister, Eva Dean Woods (Joe Lee), all of Dermott, AR. She leaves to forever cherish her memories a host of friends; eight children: Ms. Georgia Davis, of Alamogordo, N.M., Mr. Walter Compton, of Beaumont, Texas, Ms. Dorothy Taylor, of Alamogordo, Ms. Delinda Compton, of Humble, Texas, Mr. Sheldon Compton and wife Vickie, of Alamogordo, Ms. Gloria Compton, of Humble, Texas, Mrs. Joyce Thomas, of Hope Mills, N.C., Mr. Nathaniel Compton, of Alamogordo, two brothers, Mr. J.B. Boatner (Mary Ann) of Dermott, Ark., Mr. Willie Boatner (Erma) of Beloit, Wisc., two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Courtney (James) of Dermott, Ark., Mrs. Rosie Grice (Ruben) of Shreveport, La., three sisters-in-law, eleven grandchildren, Inella, Latisha, Maurice, Shaterica, Jasmine, Kenneth, Kamae, Sean, Brittany, Scott, Gina and nine great-grandchildren, Latalia, Jordan, Aaliyah, Trey, Ambresa, Markel, Dinja, Kimora, and Dezirae.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor James Forney officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Compton family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
