Irvin J. "Arge" Argeanton, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at his home in Custer, S.D., and went to join his loving wife Nancy B. Argeanton who passed away on September 23, 2002.

Arge was born on March 14, 1930, in New Orleans Parish, La., son of Eugene and Evelina (Louistanau) Argeanton. He received an AA degree of Engineering from Santa Monica City College and graduated from U.S. Maritime School in St. Petersburg, Fla. Arge served in the USAF and is a Korean War Veteran. He retired as an elite aircraft mechanic and he made the world a safer place by providing liberty and freedom. He was a world class jazz drummer and played with the greats of the Big Band Era. Arge continued his love for drums and music by playing with the Hill City Fife and Drum Corps and the 7th Cavalry Drum and Bugle Corps of Rapid City, SD. He enriched many lives with his love of music.

Nancy B. Argeanton, 66 of Custer, SD, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2002. Nancy was born on January 26, 1936, in Los Angeles, Calif. Arge and Nancy married on January 18, 1964, in Arizona. After living and retiring in the Southwest, both Nancy and Arge found their way to Custer, where they both fell in love with the Black Hills and the Buffalo. Nancy enjoyed shopping and collecting Nutcrackers, but her favorite love was for her "buffies" and buffalo collection. Nancy and Arge looked forward to seeing all their friends at their annual Christmas Party and the yearly Buffalo Roundup.

Survivors include Arge's sons, Irvin J. Argeanton Jr. of Escondido, Calif.; Michael Argeanton (Pam) of Eucha, Okla.; Nancy's son, B. Scott Bennett (Nancy) of Los Angeles, Calif.; Arge & Nancy's daughters, Janet Taylor (Steve) of Loves Park, Ill.; Suzanne Argeanton (Billy Courtney) New Braunfels, Texas; Carrie Briggs Spokane, Wash.: four granddaughters, six grandsons, five great granddaughters, and one great grandson.

Committal services will be held for Nancy and Arge on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the Custer Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held following the service from 2-4 p.m., at the Custer Senior Citizen Center.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.
