JAMES E "“JIM”" STANFILL Obituary
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, JAMES "JIM" E. STANFILL, 82, of Tularosa passed from this life on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Las Cruces, NM.

He was born to James and Anice Evans Stanfill on May 13, 1934 in Caruthersville, Missouri.

Jim as he was fondly known to family and friends served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was decorated with the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He retired after 32 years of service from the Department of the Air Force 8330 Civil Engineering Squadron.

James was a member of the Catholic Church.

Those left to mourn his passing include his children, James Edward Stanfill Jr. and wife Rose Marie of Phoenix, AZ, Ronald L. Stanfill, and Freddie Madrid both of Tularosa, Doreen Carter also of Tularosa, Renée Yoder and husband Scott of Las Cruces; a sister, Rebecca Elaine Christopher also of Tularosa. Other survivors include twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda Stanfill; his children, Nettie Ann Gutierrez, Ray Madrid and Jason Ellis Stanfill; his grandchildren, Alex, Diona, Kimberly and Orlando Jr.

A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2 PM in St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church, 303 Encino Street in Tularosa with Reverend Alex Ureña officiating.

Inurnment of Cremains will follow in the Tularosa Cemetery with military honors accorded by a New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard.
