1927 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
James F. "Jimmie" Livingston, 84, of Tularosa passed away on March 16, 2012. He was born in Tularosa April 24, 1927, to James B. "Jim" and Johnnie H. Livingston. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy from 1945-1947 aboard the USS President Jackson in the South Pacific.
Jimmie loved Tularosa and was fond of dancing, horseback riding, fishing and camping in his RV. He loved working with animals. Through the years he raised horses, cows, sheep and a menagerie of dogs and cats. He loved joking and laughing with family and friends. He was a former Tularosa Wildcat football and track athlete, and he remained an avid Tularosa Wildcat supporter throughout his entire life. He enjoyed listening on the radio to the Wildcats win the state championship in basketball during his final days.
Jim was an active member of the Tularosa Lions club since 1961. He served as district governor of New Mexico District 40-M in 1974-1975. He was also a former member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol Troop 16. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986, after serving the public for 30 years in Tularosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and a sister, Thelma Livingston.
He is survived by Roma (Cook) Livingston, his wife of 63 years; a son, Fredie Livingston and his wife, Roberta, of Tularosa; a granddaughter, Natalie Livingston of Albuquerque; a grandson, Aaron Livingston and his wife, Samantha; two great-granddaughters, Amonique and Zoe Livingston, all of The Colony, Texas. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Coma (Cook) Jackson of Albuquerque and numerous other loving family members.
Cremation has taken place. At Jimmie's request, no public services are planned. However a family memorial will be celebrated at a later date.
