Longtime flooring installer
James R. "Jim" Wills, 84, of Monument, and longtime former resident of Alamogordo, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Medical Center in Odessa, Texas.
Jim was born July 22, 1924, in Nashport, Ohio, to James Alfred and Velma (Rine) Wills. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the D.A.V. He moved to Alamogordo in 1952 and was a flooring installer for 36 years.
Survivors include three sons, Allen Wills and his wife, Connie, John Wills and his wife, Carol, and Richard Wills and his wife, Debbie, all of Alamogordo; two daughters, Mary Ann Funnemark and her husband, Ron, of Kamiah, Idaho, and Ruthie Swinney and her husband, Wylie, of Monument; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a half brother, Al Wills, of Florida; and a half sister, Viola Messins, of Nashport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Wills; a grandson, Raymond Wills; a brother, Kenny Wills; and two half sisters, Dorothy Sinsabaugh and Margaret Pendleton.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with James Allen Wills II officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery with military honors by the New Mexico Army National Guard.
Pallbearers will be James Allen Wills II, Ronnie Lee Savell, Justin Alton Savell, Chestley Wayne Savell, Steven Rodriguez and Teddy Wills.
Friends may call Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
