Jason E. McWhirter Obituary
Jason Ellis McWhirter, 37, went to be with his Lord and loving extended family Monday, May 2, 2011, in La Luz. His passing was peaceful, with his family and DeeBee the dog by his side.
He was born April 24, 1974, in Alamogordo and was the son of Richard and Caylis McWhirter, who own One Stop Auto where he was employed for many years.
Jason's interests in life were computers, movies, guitars, his cats, bowling and his pride and joy - a 1969 classic truck that his dad restored for him as an ongoing labor of love.
Although Jason had many health problems in his life, he was always able to bounce back and keep going. His core group of loyal and compassionate friends was very important to him and blessed him greatly.
His final battle was with cancer, and it caused him the loss of a leg, but after a determined adjustment he got back to his life again. Finally God said it was enough and called him home. His simple faith in God and the assurance that he would be in heaven kept him going during the hardest of times.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Faye and Jim McWhirter, of Bent, and Catherine and Ellis Bilbo, of Alamogordo.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at First Assembly Worship Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice, 1859 Indian Wells Road, Alamogordo, NM 88310, or Kitty City, 56 Danley Ranch Road, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
The McWhirter family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
