Jay Herbert Crossland Jr., 71, passed away peacefully at home, in Alamogordo, NM, with his family by his side Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. He was born on Dec. 25, 1940 in Uniontown, Pa. to Jay Sr. and Josephine (Chidester) Crossland.
He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1979. He was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in 1969, and returned to the area following his retirement from the Air Force. He was owner/operator of Emporium Furniture and Holloman Motors until his retirement in 2004.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Alamogordo; daughter Carol (Brian) Gott, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and son, Robert Crossland, of Phoenix; stepchildren Sharon (Joe) Margraf and Philip Adair, of Melbourne, Fla. and Kenneth (Jennifer) Adair and Pamela (Frank) Butchko, of Rio Rancho, NM; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister Wanda Budd, of Las Vegas, Nev., and niece Julie Kozak, of Seal Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay H. Crossland Sr. in 1981 and Josephine Crossland in 1986.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice for the care provided to Jay during his illness.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1316 Scenic Drive, Alamogordo, with Pastor Howell Scott officiating.
Inurnment with follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

The Crossland family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
