Loving father, papa and friend
J. C. Lawhon, 74, of Tularosa, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1934, in Rector, Ark., to Carney Monroe and Ora Vera (Merritt) Lawhon. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He was a retired machine mechanic from Avery Dennison Office Supplies Manufacturer in Waco, Texas. He would always give of himself to anyone in need. 
He was devoted to his family and is survived by his daughter, Debra Lea Sanderson and husband, Jim, of Tularosa; four grandchildren, Gina Storseth and husband, Mike, of Alamogordo, Amanda Marie Veyna and husband, Oscar, of Tularosa, Laura "Lori" Bowen and husband, Mike, of Alamogordo, and Shawn Sanderson, of Alamogordo; nine great-grandchildren, James, Debra Morgan, Alexandria, Kendall, Faith, Jimmy Connor, Nyah, Baylee and Masey.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Amanda and Oscar's house, 13 Austin Lane in Tularosa to celebrate a life well lived for a man well loved at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Otero County Boys & Girls Club, 201 Dale Scott Ave, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
Direct cremation will take place under the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
