Jean Vallance Obituary
Jean Vallance, an Otero County resident, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at her home. She was born in Wichita, Kan., on Jan. 30, 1937, to Gerald and Ruth Palmer.
Jean graduated from Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita in 1957. She worked in nursing in Kansas and Colorado for several years.
In 1973, she married Carl Vallance, of Kentucky. She lived in Colorado till 1991 when they moved to the Tularosa Basin area. She was involved with a radio program for eight years with Mike Shinabery, was involved with Eagle Forum, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 34 and was also bestowed the honor of a day (June 7) named after her by the Otero County Commission.
Jean Vallance is survived by her husband, Carl Vallance; daughters Denice Bradford and husband, Greg, of Colorado, and Laurie McPherson and husband, Mike, of Texas; son Michael Hill, of Colorado; stepdaughter Debbie Bjelde, of Colorado; 19 grandchildren, Gregory Bradford, Christopher Bradford, Christina Eubanks, Matthew Parker, Calvin Hill, Wesley Hill, Joshua and wife, Codie Parker, Michael McPherson, Ashley McPherson, Dustin McPherson, D.C. Bjelde, Carrie Bjelde, Adam Bjelde, Eli Bjelde, Ben Bjelde, Felisha Bjelde, Jorden Hill and Kirsten Hill; and 13 great-grandchildren, Dakota Larson, Elizabeth Parker, Abbigale Eubanks, Christopher Bradford and many more.
Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Stoots, Mike Shinabery, Chris Shinabery, Tim McGinn, John Oliver and Phil Runnells.
