Jeanne P. (Danley) Sanders

1933 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Jeanne P. (Danley) Sanders Obituary
Jeanne Sanders, age 84, went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 5, 2018. She was born on March 5, 1933, right here in Alamogordo, New Mexico, to Henry and Bessie (Green) Danley.

Survivors include her brother Bobby Danley (Barbara) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, brother in law, Glynn Sanders (Betty) of Neosho, Missiouri, sister in law Dolores Sanders of Muskogee, Oklahoma, her daughter Sharon and husband Jonathon, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanne lived through the Great Depression, WWII, The Kennedy Assassination, the moon landing, computers, cell phones, and everything in between. But none of those things were ever uppermost in her mind, as was the fierce, unrelenting love for her family and friends.

To her grandchildren and many other people, she was simply "Ma". The kids' formative years were spent storming through her house, chasing one another, waiting for meals to be prepared in her constantly busy kitchen, where there was always enough room for another plate or two.

Games were played at the dining room table and lessons of life were learned there. Conversations took place over meals made from generational recipes, where she told the stories of the great triumphs and tragedies of those she cared for. Throughout her life, stories big and small, told as though through small town eyes, delighted her to no end, and Jeanne's wisdom was an amazing spice that added to every meal.

Lessons in sewing, crafting, cooking and cleaning took place in every room in her home. You see, she was the picture of the women described within the pages of Scripture. She was the woman who worked diligently, day in and day out, to care for and provide for her family, and anyone else who crossed her threshold. Jeanne stayed busy ensuring her guests were always cared for. She fulfilled the mandate found in the pages of Titus, to teach and train the younger generations how to love their husbands, care for their children, and keep their home.

And yet, her favorite word was "Go"! Where ever there was adventure and excitement, she was packed at the drop of a hat and ready to climb up in the truck and go. She considered all aspects of life, part of the grand adventure. Some parts were wonderful, some parts were terrible, but all of life was an adventure, if you knew how to see it that way. So, on February 5th, it was time to move on to the Eternal Grand Adventure.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, Henry Danley, mother, Bessie (Green) Danley, her husband, James (Jim) Sanders, sons Eddie and Lennie, daughter JimmyJean, and brother in law, Jack Sanders.

A graveside service will be held for Jeanne Sanders at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo, New Mexico, on February 22, 2018 at 11:00 am with Mike Woods officiating.

The Sanders family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the services.
