Jerry Glenn Lyman Obituary
Jerry Glenn Lyman, 51, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his home in Alamogordo. He was born May 30, 1961, in Hays, Kan., to Jerry and Synda Hooper Lyman.
Glenn was a lifelong resident of Alamogordo, except for five years while he attended New Mexico State University.
Those left to mourn Glenn's passing are his wife of 27 years, Patricia Lyman; his daughter Danielle Lyman and her significant other, Mike Sutton; his parents Jerry and Margo Lyman; Patricia's parents Richard and Terry Kondo; Patricia's brothers Steven Kondo and wife, Betty, and James Kondo; his aunt Patty Speer-Palacio and husband, Tony; his nieces and nephews Zana Zmily, Lexie Kondo, Nidal Zmily, Cameron Anderson and Jordan Kondo; his cousins Kimberly Morrison and husband, Jack, Theron Speer, Garrett Speer, Merissa Eisenhauer, Meranda Jack; and several great friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his mother Synda; sister Amber; and grandparents Jack and Opal Lyman and Wilbur and Nora Hooper.
The joy of Glenn's life was his wife, daughter and his dog Sadie. He worked at Heart of the Desert Pistachio Farm until his health failed. After that, he found pleasure in doing chores around the house and minor yard work. Glenn rarely complained about his condition.
He was an avid baseball fan, loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and horse racing. He and his daughter shared a love of nature and wildlife, which influenced her to pursue a degree in biology. In his dad's eye, Glenn was the most courageous man he has ever known.
In lieu of flowers, Glenn's family suggests donations to the Jennifer Elizabeth Tarnow Scholarship at the Grace United Methodist Church Endowment Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or .
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Riser officiating.
The Lyman family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
