Jerry Lee Johnson Obituary
Jerry Lee Johnson, 51, passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in La Luz. He was born on Thursday, June 16, 1960, in Corning, N.Y., to Roger and Rebecca (Sweet) Johnson. He was raised in north central Pennsylvania and lived in La Luz, Alamogordo and the surrounding area for more than 30 years. He had many, many friends here.
He was preceded in death by our parents and our younger brother Raymond Scott Johnson, who we miss dearly and remember with great fondness.
Jerry is survived by his brothers and sisters L. Riki Johnson, Theresa Woodard, Shane Simar, Lewis Cornukys, Mindy Roberts, Lisa Johnson and Vicky Johnson, as well as dear family friend Katheren Najar, who will remain family for life.
Jerry served his country at Fort Bragg, Ga., from 1978-1981. He moved to Alamogordo in 1982. He worked many jobs, including on White Sands at the school in janitorial services and as a mechanic in the Orogrande and Alamogordo area, including Guy's Transmission.
He had many hobbies, including nitrous planes. He was an officer of the RC Inner City Flight Club. He helped young folk to learn on his training plane. He even went the extra step to get the club into events that normally they would not have been able to get into. I know they will miss and reminisce about him. He was a good example for many there. He was also affiliated with the Stealth City Flyers, which was established in November 1966, for 10 years serving as president.
He was a master at Dungeons and Dragons and an avid console and PC gamer, beating most games he played with ease.
Jerry's quiet, easy manner made it easy to become his friend. He was always true to his word, loyal and fair-minded. I know many respected the man he grew into and will miss his quick smile, cheerful humor and his fast response when asked for help. You could always count on him. He will be sorely missed. We all love you, Jerry!
Memorial services for Jerry will at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel, 2301 First St., with Chuck Moon officiating.
The Johnson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
