Joann Malett Obituary

Joann Malett, 84, passed away on Sept. 9, 2014, in Alamogordo. She was born on Nov. 13, 1929, in Pecos, Texas, to Tom and Nora (Heulster) Kelly.

Joann was a very loving mom and grandmother, and always put her children's and grandchildren's needs above her own. Joann was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and taking care of her yard. Joann also really enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Robert) Grundon of Benton, Ark.; Sandy L. Deay of Alamogordo; and Willa (Jeff) Klein of Denver, Colo.; five sons, Jerry (Gailen) Malett of Mayhill; Steven Malett; Larry (Sally) Malett, Randy (Kris) Malett and David (Roseann) Malett all of Alamogordo; Sister-in-law Betty (Charles) Messer of Alamogordo; 20 grandchildren, Jimmy Tshudy; Mike Deay; Bobby Malett; Ricky Tshudy; Pamela Hight; Bill Deay; Kim Sullivan; James Grundon; Randy Malett Jr.; Sarah Malett; Jeremy Malett; Steven Little; Brandon Johnson; Cindy Archuleta; Joey Klein; Kami Daily; Michael Malett; Michael Little, Stacey Vance, and Erin Little. Thirty-seven great-grandchildren, David Tshudy; Katelyn Tshudy; Kody Malett; Trenton Malett, Niki Tshudy; Tyler Tshudy; Hannah Tshudy; Tyanda Lavendusky; Christopher McCalister; Trenton Cottier; Danielle Morris; Dante Deay; Aedan Schumacher; Parker Lee Deay; Noah Deay; Lane Greenough; Anna Nicole Branch; Karis Grundon; Carson Grundon; Malik Malett; Daeshaun Hasan; McKayla Malett; Belle Johnson; Anthony Archuleta; Alicia Archuleta; Kaylee Archuleta; Brianna Archuleta; Riley Archuleta; Noah Archuleta; Brayden Archuleta; Liliana Archuleta; Elijah Archuleta; Rainn Daily; Haven Daily; Gage Daily; Mackenzie Little, and Brenden Little.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tom Kelly and Nora Kelly; husband, Gearl W. Malett; Son, Gary Wayne Malett; three brothers Henry Kelly; Joe Kelly; and Billy Ray Kelly; and five sisters Lela Nance; Erlene Garrett; Tommie Tocarczyk; Lily May Oren, and Lenora Blanchard.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, with Rodney Eaton officiating at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.

The Malett family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. Cremation will take place at PCS.
