Obituary Condolences

Joe A. Armijo, 63, of Alamogordo, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008. He was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Truth or Consequences. Joe grew up in T or C and graduated from Hot Springs High School. He held various jobs during his lifetime - he maintained the grounds at the T or C Golf Course, was a deputy sheriff with Sierra County, and retired from New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Alamogordo. Joe was very talented and gifted; he could build and make anything out of nothing, and as one person described him, "he was a unique individual."
Joe was in the New Mexico National Guard from March 1961 to 1965 and was honorably discharged due to a medical injury.
Joe is survived by his wife of 18 years, Connie (Ellinger) Armijo; two stepdaughters, Becky Grant and Jennifer Golden; two sons, Anthony Armijo, of Connecticut, and Stephen D. Armijo, of Las Cruces; their mother, Clara B. Armijo; his mother, Connie G. Clark and stepfather Bob; sisters Helen MacNeill and husband Harry, of Alamogordo, and Karen Jones, of Las Cruces; brother Levi G. Armijo and his wife Toni, of Las Cruces; step-brother Richard, of California; his precious granddaughter, Megan Armijo, of Minnesota; her mother Nancy; his nephews, Harry J. MacNeill Jr. and Michael R. MacNeill, of Alamogordo, David A. Bums, of Washington, and Julius I. Jones, of Las Cruces; his nieces, Andrea and LeiAnn Armijo, of T or C.; and his dear friend Jack Harmon, of Ohio.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Hermino and Telesfora A. Torres, who raised him in T or C; his father and step-mother, Adam B. and Violet Armijo; older brother Andy R. Armijo; and sister Virginia Armijo.
At Joe's last request, cremation will take place and no formal services will be held. At a later date, his two sons will spread his ashes by Caballo and Elephant Butte Lake, where he loved to fish and enjoyed time with his friends.
Direct cremation has taken place at PCS Direct Cremation Services.
