Obituary Condolences

Joe Flores, 74, passed away peacefully while asleep at his home in Tularosa March 25, 2008. Joe, a lifelong resident of Tularosa, was born in 1933 and was one of 12 siblings born to Enriquez and Amelia Flores. Joe retired from the civil service at Holloman Air Force Base, and thereafter, for many years, he worked at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero.
He was a member of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church having served as an altar server, assisted with the "y uncasos" for more than 40 years at the annual fiesta and was a devoted adorer at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. He was of a very cordial and gracious nature with a very warm and pleasant smile and a most cute and cheerful greeting for every one, "Hey Papa, what's new en tu vida." He was an outstanding award winner in football for the Tularosa High School Wildcats, active in the Fraternal Club and the village softball league. He will be missed and never forgotten by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Joe Paul Flores, of Tularosa; stepson, Rudy Pacheco, serving in Iraq; and sisters Jeni Alexander, of Tularosa, Ramena Turner and husband Pete, of Pensacola, Fla., and Helen Savoie, of Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; four sisters, Drucilla Huggins, Lola Chavez, Jo Ferguson and Rebecca Kersting; and four brothers; Henry, Ted, Frankie and Johnny.
A rosary will be recited by Josie and Matias Chavez at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church with Father Bruce Hausfeld, O.F.M., celebrant.
Pallbearers include Paul Ribota, Jason Flores, Tony Chavez, Ronnie Chavez, Paul Alexander, Mark Alexander, Richard Alexander, David Ferguson, Kevin Turner, Alberto Armijo, Terrance Armijo and Kenny Flores.
A reception will follow the rosary at the Parish Hall and a luncheon will follow the Mass at the Parish Hall.
Direct cremation will take place under the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
