1931 - 2014 Obituary Condolences

John Charles Hawk, Sr., 83, of Monett, Mo., passed away on Sunday evening, Oct. 26, 2014, while at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

John was born on August 19, 1931, in Shamokin, Penn., son of the late Harry D. and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Hawk. Following high school, John enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country honorably for over twenty years and was a veteran of both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
When he retired from the military, John was an electronics technician for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed traveling.
On July 10, 1954 in Shamokin, Penn., John and Dorothy Dobson were united in marriage. They were blessed with over sixty-years together.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Dorothy; one son, John Charles Hawk, Jr., of Monett, Mo.; one daughter, Judy Carrasco, and her husband Earl, of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Jean Butts and John Carrasco; two great-grandchildren, Madison Butts and Liam Carrasco; and one sister, Elizabeth Barrett and her husband John, of Rensselaer, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by one brother; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
