Johnettia Rhnea House Obituary

Johnettia Rhnea House, 58, passed away on Dec. 24, 2014, at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with her loving parents by her side.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1956, in Edmond, Oklahoma, to John and Barbara (Yates) House.

Survivors include her parents, John and Barbara House of the family home; two brothers, Mark T. House and wife Diane, of Pueblo West, Colorado, and R. Kent House and wife Lisa, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; a sister, Amy B. Weider and husband Ossi , of Santa Fe, New Mexico; four nieces, Micela Hurtado and husband Diego, of Lexington, Kentucky, Megan Weider and Madeline Weider, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Julia House, of Pueblo West, Colorado; two nephews, Mark A. House, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Michael K. House of Pueblo West, Colorado; and a great niece due to join her family in March, Larkenne Eve Hurtado, of Lexington, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents, T. J. "Happy" Yates and Minnie Olga (McLemore) Yates and Paternal Grandparents, Cecil Albert House and Zula M. (Compton) House.

Johnettia spent her lifetime profoundly autistic and disabled, not expected to live past her teens. She is now a young, healthy and beautiful spirit in the gates of Heaven, knowing the legacy she left behind. But for Johnettia and 8 others with disabilities, the 9 original mothers who started Zia Therapy Center would not have banded together, starting the small helping institution that has grown into what it is today. Johnettia was never sheltered or hidden away. Because of this, she had a profound impact on the many people in her life. The world is a better place because she was a part of it.

The family greeted friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2014, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Dayhab program or the Adult Respite Program at Zia Therapy Center.

The House family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, Inc., to direct the funeral services.
