Johnnie F. Marrujo Obituary
Johnnie F. Marrujo, 73, of Tularosa, passed away in Albuquerque on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Tularosa to Cruz and Susan Marrujo. He graduated from Tularosa High School in 1955 and excelled in football and basketball where he was known as "The Tulie Terror." He was a member of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Johnnie was a devoted family man who loved to be around his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching any and all sports; he especially had a passion for Notre Dame football and taking care of his dog Chica.
Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, JoAnn. They were blessed with three sons, Johnny Joe and wife, Diane, and Reney and wife, Edwina, all from Alamogordo, and Chuck, from Albuquerque. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Serena, Jason, Nicole, Jessica, Eric, Sara and Nick, and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend Max Salcido.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Charles Jr.; a sister, Lucy Mackey; and his in-laws, Reynaldo and Sophia Sanchez.
He will forever be remembered as a loving, kind, caring man and a friend to all.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, and Johnnie's Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009. All services will be held at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa.
The Marrujo family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
