Johnny E. Armenta, 73
Johnny E. Armenta, 73, passed from this life to be with the Lord on April 2, 2016 in Alamogordo, NM.

He leaves the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Dolores B. Armenta; his daughter, Christina Martinez and son,-in-law, Javier Martinez Jr. of Las Cruces, NM; and his daughter, Angela Armenta of Alamogordo, NM; his grandchildren, Derrick Martinez, Christian Armenta, Morgan and Madison Martinez; his brothers, Ralph Armenta of Denver, CO, Gus Armenta of Tularosa, NM, Rudy Armenta and Joe Lueras of Alamogordo, NM; his sisters, Sarah Sanchez of North Carolina, Pat Peidra, Mary Lou Hernandez and Cammy Lueras of Alamogordo, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Armenta and Isabel Lueras; his brothers, Paul Armenta and Larry Lueras; and his grandson, Brandon Martinez.

Johnny retired from the US Army in April 1988 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He earned numerous awards and medals including, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon/Numeral Two, Vietnam Service Medal, one silver and two bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Bars 3, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation, Non Commissioned Officer, Professional Development Ribbon-3,and Expert Rifle M-16. While serving his country he also earned his bachelor of science degree in education in 1982 from Southern Illinois University. After his military career he began working at White Sands Missile Range and retired from Civil Service in March 2005.

Johnny's family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved to play football and basketball and riding bikes with family. He also enjoyed taking his Golden Retriever, Harley on walks, going to the casino and watching his team, the Minnesota Vikings, play football.

Johnny will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, April 13 at 1:00 PM at the First Assembly Worship Center, 801 10th Street, Alamogordo. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
