Joy Lee Hutto Baca

Obituary Condolences

Beloved wife, devoted mother
Joy Baca, 50, of Tularosa, was welcomed into heaven by the Lord Tuesday, June 10, 2008, while at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
Joy was born in Clovis at Cannon Air Force Base July 16, 1957, to Joseph L. Hutto and Nancy E. Allen Hutto. Joy attended Tularosa High School where she met her husband Robert G. Baca. They were married in 1981 and have three children. Joy graduated from college at New Mexico State University and then taught at the public schools in Tularosa for 24 years; 13 years at the high school and 11 years at the middle school. She was a volleyball and track coach, and saw her two boys through all of their sports events, even coaching them at times.
Joy is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert G. Baca of Tularosa; her children, Brandi Lee Baca-Zimmerman and her husband Tucker of Waynesville, Mo., Robert J. Baca of Denver and Salomon J. "Shorty" Baca of Tularosa; two grandchildren, Gabriella A. Baca and Trystin B. Zimmerman; her father and mother, Joseph L. Hutto and Nancy E. Allen-Hutto of Tularosa; brother, George A. Hutto; mother-in-law, Mary L. Baca of Tularosa; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Baca, Tony Baca and spouse Karen, and Roy Telles; three sisters-in-law, Natalia Johnson, Priscilla Valdez, and Barbara Corey and spouse David and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Joy is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Salomon G. Baca, of Tularosa and sister-in-law Margaret "Maggie" Telles, of Tularosa.
Joy loved her family and was always willing to lend a helping hand; she enjoyed her animals on the farm and working outdoor gardening. She was a very talented poet and her devotion to her husband and children and grandchildren was unmatched by many. Joy has proven her strength and great faith in the Lord by enduring a decade long battle with cancer; she will be missed dearly, however now she will rest eternally with the Lord in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any cancer research foundation.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Frances De Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 9 a.m.
Cremation will take place locally at PCS entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
