Juanita "Nita" Morris Obituary
Juanita "Nita" Morris, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, broke the bonds of this physical life and entered eternal life Monday, June 25, 2012, in Alamogordo. She was born May 30, 1924, in Coleman, Texas, to L.L. Helton and Estelle (McDaniel) Helton.
She inspired all those she came in contact with by never losing faith in the Lord and Savior, regardless of the restraints her physical body put upon her. She was living proof of true courage and strength through her pure actions. She brought truth to the world, leaving a legacy her family will impart to others. Her smile and laugh were infectious - so much so that all those who knew her will forever hold that joy and spirit dear to their hearts.
She served all ages of her community through various selfless endeavors; she was a librarian and teacher for the Alamogordo Public Schools and NMSBVI, and she supported her church as president of United Methodist Women among other numerous committees and appointments.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sisters Dorothy Faircloth and Betty Lou Warden; her brother L.L Helton Jr.; and her husband of 49 years, Willie Houston Morris.
Survivors include her son Michael Morris and his wife, Karen, of Ruidoso; daughter Linda Carr and her husband, Steve, of Alamogordo; grandchildren Todd (Leigh) Morris, Michelle Morris, Danielle (Spencer) Baldwin, Shelbi (Jeremy) Baldillez, Sloan Hinkle and Szaine Hinkle; and great-grandchildren Tyler Dowling, Micah Morris, Myra Hinkle, Greyson and Abram Baldillez.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church by Pastor Harry Riser.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Curtis West, Wesley Johnson, Doyle Young, Maurice Hobson, Robert Doughty and Pierre Patneaude.
Friends are welcomed to attend a viewing and visitation with family Monday, July 2, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home.
