Judith Dell Rother Obituary
Judith Dell Rother, 67, of Alamogordo, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at her son's home in Chandler, Ariz.
Mrs. Rother was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Cushing, Neb., to Wayne and Irene Cook. She attended school in St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School. She is an alumni of Kearney State College, where she obtained a teaching degree in English and home economics.
She was united in marriage to Douglas G. Rother at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wolbach, Neb., on March 27, 1965, and was his beloved wife for 45 years.
She worked as a teacher from 1965-2009, in Nebraska, Arizona and New Mexico, completing her career at Alamogordo High School.
She enjoyed family, friends, sports and painting. Most importantly, she loved teaching and children. She was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Alamogordo, and was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post 7686 of Alamogordo.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Liz Rother of Long Beach, Calif., Todd and Jamie Rother, of Torrance, Calif., and Terry and Jill Rother, of Chandler; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Garey Gjerstad, of Chapman, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Brett Rother, Linzy, Lacey and Lexie Rother, Tyler, Lauren and Jessica Rother, Cassandra Rother and Caitlyn Rother; and great-grandchildren Kayla, Erik and Nicholas Rother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Jim, John and Gene Cook; and son Bradley Rother.
Friends and family are invited to attend a vigil and rosary at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, located at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, in Chandler. The memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Scottsdale, Ariz.
She will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
