Julia Anne Cook
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1316 Scenic Drive. A reception will follow the services in the Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
On July 17, 2013, after a courageous and lengthy battle with COPD, our beloved Julia Anne Cook passed from this earth into the loving arms of her Savior.
Julia led a fulfilled, interesting and adventurous life of her choosing. She was born in Alamogordo Oct. 11, 1968, to Alvin and Evelyn Klopfer Cook. She grew up on the Cook family farm in Laborcita Canyon and attended school at La Luz Elementary. She graduated from Alamogordo High School and attended New Mexico State University.
Julie took great pride in her work as a riding director and camp director of Camp Mary White. She later completed truck driving school and started her 15-year career as a long-haul truck driver. She traveled all around the United States and into Canada. She often related that she saw places she never would have seen had she not been a truck driver. As her health began to fail, she returned to the family farm.
"Juju" was a loving and kind person who took great pride in spoiling her nieces, nephews and grand-nieces, always making sure they had ice cream, bubbles to blow and the most interesting gifts. She loved animals and lived out her days with her dog and cats.
Julie is survived by her parents, Alvin and Evelyn Cook; brother Jon Cook and his wife, Robyn, of Cloudcroft, and their children, Diana and Jacob Cook; sister Sarah Cook, of Las Cruces, and her children Katie and husband, Jim Reagan, and daughter Kara-Jane; Jenny Cook and Zach Cook and wife, Roo, and their child Jesse (Boo).
