Kathleen Faye DaPron

1926 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Kathleen Faye DaPron, of Tularosa, went home to be with Jesus on the morning of Sunday, July 22, 2012.
Kay was born April 4, 1926, in Altus, Okla., to Iva Jewell and John Gordon Brackeen. She was married on Dec. 14, 1935, to Donald Eugene DaPron, son of Audley and Olivia Waidley DaPron, of Denver. Kay and Don had two children, Sandy DaPron and Donnie DaPron.
Kay is survived by her husband, Don DaPron; children Donnie DaPron and wife, Linda, and Sandy DaPron and companion, Walter Powell; five grandchildren, Amber Perry, Arin Perry and wife, Renee, Kyle DaPron, Kory DaPron, and Kolt DaPron and wife, Marika; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Edith Briley and her brothers Orville, Chuck and Ivan Brackeen.
Kay grew up in Denver, where in her youth she dug water wells and picked cotton and cherries in the fields. She quit high school a month before graduation to work in the ammunition factories to help support the country during World War II.
After the war, Donald came home from his tour of duty.
A book could be written around Kay's accomplishments and all she was as a person. She was an excellent seamstress, owning her own sewing center in Tularosa in the 1950s. She made the dancing attire for the annual St. Francis de Paula fiestas. Kay was also an accomplished artist.
Kay's friends and family admired her most for her unselfish way, her optimism, the way she never found fault with others and always loved unconditionally - values she tried to instill in her family.
Her grandchildren will remember her as being magical and whimsical, loving and all knowing (she was the secret keeper) and the best friend they'll ever know.
Sweet and beautiful until the day she died, Kay will be missed for all the love she showered on those around her, and for who she was - a true lady.
The DaPron family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
