WWII veteran
Kathryn (Kay) J. Wolfe, 87, of Alamogordo, left this world peacefully on Nov. 13, 2007, surrounded by her family. Kathryn was born in Casselton, N.D., on July 19, 1920 to John and Bernice (Gill) Sinner. After high school, Kathryn attended St. John's Nursing School in Fargo, N.D. She served in the Army Nurse Corps as a Lieutenant from 1943 to 1946. She continued in nursing at Fort Logan Veteran's Hospital in Colorado, where she met her husband Charles M. Wolfe as a patient, they married in 1949. After 53 years of marriage he passed in July of 2002.
Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and volunteer. For 40 years, she spent her summers at the family cabin.
Survivors include, six children, Susie Anderson, Kathryn (Eugene) Cecava, Mary Prosoco and Tim (Terry) Wolfe, all of Alamogordo, James (Lisa) Wolfe, of Salt Lake City, Utah and Monica Fisk, of Ruidoso; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Dan Sinner of West Fargo, N.D. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, brother Jack, sister Phyllis and grandson, Matthew Prosoco.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at St. Jude Mission with Father Wayne Herpin, S.J., Celebrant.
