Kenneth Wayne Pingleton was called home to the Lord early Thursday morning, September 11, 2008. He battled his cancer with dignity and his faith in God.
This beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was born to Horace Franklin and Leila Pearl (Eckols) Pingleton on August 19, 1945 in Okay, Okla.
He graduated from Okay High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to begin a career in aviation mechanics. He was given the opportunity to travel the world and retired from the Air Force at Holloman A.F.B. March 19, 1988. On March 20, 1988 he began his civilian service job with Dyncorp at H.A.F.B., which allowed him to keep working in aviation mechanics. He loved working with his planes and was known as an "Eagle Keeper." He was so successful with the mechanics of his planes; Pilots were known to say their planes were in the perfect hands. He retired on April 18, 2008.
He loved NASCAR, any races and fishing. He especially loved time spent with his grandchildren and sightseeing New Mexico. He was a kind and giving person.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Freda Langton.
He leaves behind his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Barbara Pingleton of the family home; three daughters, Marcie Love and husband Thomas of Austin, Texas, Lisa Torres of Alamogordo and Tammy Campbell of Natural Bridge, NY; a son, Darcy Pingleton and wife Margie of Houston, Texas; five loving grandchildren that he cherished; one great-grandchild and one on the way; five brothers, Charles Pingleton of Okay, Okla., Jerry Pingleton of Houston, Texas, Hubert "Hoopie" Pingleton and Donald Pingleton, both of Ft. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Crispin officiating.
Full Military Honors will be provided by Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard.
Cremation will follow at PCS.
