Obituary Condolences

Beloved family man
Kevin Lyle Phillips, 84, went home to our Lord Feb. 27, 2008, in Alamogordo.
He was born June 26, 1923, to Harold and Bridget Phillips in Lincoln, Neb. He attended Lincoln High School and then enrolled in the University of Nebraska in Lincoln until enlisting in the Navy. In the Navy, Kevin proudly served as a Sea Bee in the Pacific theater during World War II. After his honorable discharge in 1946 he worked briefly in California before returning to Nebraska. There Kevin met and married the love of his life, Frances Hope Parra. Kevin and Frances were blessed with three children, Michael, Linda and William. After retiring, he and Frances moved to Otero County in New Mexico. Throughout Kevin's life he enjoyed hunting and fishing in several states and Canada, traveling with his family, Nebraska football, baseball and gardening. Although he led a very active life, his passion was always his family.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances, his children, Michael (Shane) Phillips of Alamogordo, Linda Phillips-Dodson of Ramona, Calif., William (Jan) Phillips of North Platte, Neb., his sister, Rose Maureen Brannon (Louis) of Marietta, Ga., and brother William Phillips (Marge) of Hastings, Neb., as well as 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Kevin's special family and friends include Val and Freddy Gutierrez, Johnny and Vicki Vallejos, and many others.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Following the service, a Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Eagle's Club on 24th Street in Alamogordo.
Memorial donations may be made in Kevin's name to the Betty Dare Good Samaritan Center in Alamogordo.
Military honors will be provided by the Navy.
Cremation will take place locally at PCS entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
