Obituary Condolences

Kristopher D. Creed went to be with the Lord Dec. 9, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 17, 1960, in Richlands, Va., to Kenneth D. and Jean (Hobbs) Creed. Kristopher graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1978 and served seven years in the Army. He was a charter member of the Sacramento VFW Post 11999 and Cloudcroft First Baptist Church.
During Kristopher's military service, he received several commendations: the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal with second award, the Army Service Ribbon, an Expert Badge with M-16 rifle, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. Most of his enlistment was served at Ft. Bliss near El Paso, Texas, but his service also included two tours of duty in German as a Patriot Missile crewmember and one remote tour in South Korea as a Hawk Missile crew chief.
Kristopher enjoyed being a community volunteer in Cloudcroft and Alamogordo. He served his communities by reaching out to cancer survivors with CAPPED for the past five years. He also worked the election polls for a number of years. Kristopher had been a member of the Cloudcroft Light Opera Company in the past, working and performing in various melodramas. He was also an employee at a local telephone service center.
Kristopher is survived by two children, Sean Creed, of Cloudcroft, and Kassandra Creed, of Las Cruces, mother Jean Hobbs, of Cloudcroft; and sister Karla Humphrey and her husband, Loren, of Hobbs; an uncle, Melvin Hobbs and his wife Joan, of Burleson, Texas; and an aunt, Wanda Snodgrass of Bonney Lake, Wash., as well as many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Creed, of St. Louis, grandparents Buford and Francis Hobbs, of Portales, and an aunt, Barbara Pyell, of Albuquerque.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Cloudcroft on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Portales at a later time.
