Lance Hicks Obituary

Lancer Charles Hicks, 89, entered our Lord's rest on Nov. 4, 2014, in El Paso, Texas.

He was born on April 20, 1925, in Shipman, Va., to Charles and Willsia (Scott) Hicks.
He fought the good fight. He kept the faith, completed his race and is receiving the eagerly anticipated crown of righteousness.
He served in U.S. Air Force for 30 years and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired in 1975 as a chief master sergeant. An active and gregarious man, he traveled all over the world and made friends wherever he went. In his later years, he frequently volunteered with Alamogordo Senior Center and his church, and he was always willing to lend a hand to friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Dolores Hicks; his natural children, Lancer Hicks Jr., Leonard Hicks, Lorraine Hicks, Linda Hicks, and Lowell Hicks; and his step-children Tommy Flores, David Flores, Linda Strand, Richard Flores, Christopher Flores and Diana Flores, along with thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents Charles Hicks and Willsia Scott Hicks, and his stepson Robert Flores.

The Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at 2 p.m., at his home church 3:16 Ministries at the intersection of Fourth Street and Texas Avenue, in Alamogordo, with Pastor Ernest Martinez officiating.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to their account at Otero Federal Credit Union under Lancer and Dolores Hicks.

The Hicks family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home. Cremation will follow on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at PCS.
