Larry Dean Hilton, "New Mexico Guitar Man," 61, was called to Rock 'N Roll Heaven on Sept. 26, 2013. Larry was born on March 11, 1952, in Alamogordo, to James Presley and Erma Lorraine Willburn Hilton. He was raised in Alamogordo.
Mr. Hilton loved music and was a member of many local bands throughout the years, including Sweetwood, Timeline, Traveling in Time (TNT) and Rocket Ranger. He enjoyed giving guitar lessons, writing and performing music his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and beloved "Mamaw" Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon, with whom he has spent the last 18 years; son Joshua Hilton (Sara), of Benton, Ill.; daughter Mariah Hilton, of Tulsa, Okla.; and his two cherished granddaughters Rhiannon Reed, of Benton, Ky., and Kadence "Tuffy Girl" Rodriguez, of Tulsa. Also surviving are his sister Jennifer Rasnick (Johnny), of Tucson, Ariz.; brother John Hilton (Joyce), of Rowley, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and life-long friends.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and Papa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 9-10 a.m. Monday, prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Larry to the Melanoma Research Foundation, PO Box 759329, Baltimore, MD 21275-9329. Memorials will also be accepted at the funeral home at the time of service.
