Larry Johnson Obituary
Larry Johnson, 66, passed away May 17, 2013, in Alamogordo. Larry had been a resident for the past 16 years. He was born Jan. 2, 1947. He graduated high school in 1965 and received a football scholarship to play football for Garden City Junior College in Kansas, where he met and married his wife, Jacqui. Larry and Jacqui were married 45 years. They moved to Albuquerque during the summer of 1968, where Larry received his Journeyman status in Carpentry. In 1972, they returned to Kansas to take care of the family farm in Quinter, Kan., after the death of his dad. He actively continued to farm and ranch until 1997. As a farmer, he was a devoted steward of the land. Some of the best times he loved were the hunting and fishing trips he took with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqui, of Alamogordo; his son Jason Johnson and wife, Gayla, of Superior Colo.; his daughter Pamela Thompson, of Ogallah Kan., his son Matthew Johnson, of Salina Kan., and his daughter Hollie Westhead and husband, James, of Alamogordo; he is also survived by 11 grandchildren Lyndsay, Katelyn, and Austin Johnson; Paige, Andrew, Dustin, and Kelsey Jo Thompson; Tristen Cook, Chase Johnson, Jordyn and Kyler Westhead.
A Memorial Service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home.
The Johnson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
