Obituary Condolences

Lawrence (Larry) B. Long passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque at the time of his passing but had lived in Tularosa for the past 10 years. 
Larry was born to Beede O. Long and Lorayne (Penny) Krantz Dec. 24, 1948, in Grand Island, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1969. He was an avid fisherman and loved gardening, reading, cooking and watching his favorite TV shows. 
He is survived by his younger brother, Jack Long, and wife, Betty, of La Luz; his mother, Penny Potter, of Aurora Neb.;  sisters Cheryl Bicknase and husband, Wally, of Hampton, Neb., and Michelle Sabata and husband, Bill, of Aurora, Neb.; brother Lee Caufield and wife, Kim, of Belton, Texas; five nieces, Kelsey Sabata, Erica, Bre and Becca Bicknase and Valerie Caufield; and six nephews, Jeremy and Joshua Sabata, Chris, Matt and Reese Bicknase and Brandon Caufield.
Survivors also include special friends Cheryl and John Evans, Robin Brusuelas, Christy George, Sam and Sandy, who is manager of the Y in Tularosa, and Otis, who cooks at the Time-Out Travel Center.
Thank you to the wonderful team of the Alamogordo Hospice Center who took care of Larry during the end of his life, especially Sharon Weaver and Erva Yarbrough.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The Long family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
