Lawrence Franklin Manker Jr. Obituary
Lawrence Franklin Manker, Jr.

Lawrence Franklin Manker Jr. was born Jan. 26, 1934, in East Vaughn and died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, in Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Franklin Manker and Ernie Dean Mitchell Manker.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Nadine Helms Manker; a daughter, Denise Rae Romero, of Alamogordo; two grandsons, Michael S. McFadden, of Española, and E. Ray Spears, of Alamogordo; and a great-granddaughter, Cherokee Miller. He is also survived by special and close cousins Sande Manker, of Lakeside, Ariz., Ernie-Lee Miller and family, of La Luz; Luisa Sutton and family of Alamogordo; and several other loved cousins scattered around the United States.
Frank, as he was known to family and close friends, worked for more than 30 years for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos. He retired in 1990 and kept house for his working wife. When she retired in 1993, they moved to Alamogordo.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for more than 50 years.
Frank was a loyal friend to many and was always willing to help anyone who asked him for his assistance. He instilled good family values and work ethics in his daughter and grandsons.
Many thanks go to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center's ICU staff for the loving care of Frank and the aid, wisdom and strength they gave to his family.
A memorial service will be held at Sacramento Lodge No. 24, A.F. & A.M., 1100 Vermont Ave., Alamogordo, on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. Please try to bring a loving story of Frank's life to share with all during the memorial service.
The family would be grateful if you would bring a covered dish item to share with family and friends immediately after the service rather than bringing food to the home. The lodge will provide beverages. Frank requested cremation and his wishes will be carried out. Burial will be private at a later time.
The Manker family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
