Lawrence “Larry” Luna Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Luna died May 15, 2016.

He was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Alamogordo, N.M., to Juan and Aurelia Luna. Larry graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1969. Larry was an artist, musician, and open-minded free thinker who enjoyed many faiths and spiritualties. He excelled in drawing and painting, as well as the flute. He loved 60's and 70's Rock n' Roll. He once presented a portrait of David Bowie to the man himself. He was also able to give a bracelet to Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, who had inspired him to play flute. Throughout his life he played to local audiences at places like the old amphitheater in Washington Park and the Olive Branch. He inspired the creative spirit in many. He was kind, witty, smart, gentle, and beloved by his family and friends. His easy conversation, unique personality, and quirky humor will be missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Juan Sr. and Aurelia Luna, his sisters: Aurelia Luna Nejeres, Soledad Luna Cavelli, Maria Luna Ortega, Juanita Luna Koch, Rita Luna Flores, and his brothers: Juan Luna Jr and Paul Gerard Luna.

Larry is survived by his sister, Patsy Luna Sanchez, of Albuquerque, his brothers and their families, Joseph Luna, Ernest Luna, Peter Luna, and Ben Luna, of Alamogordo, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 23, 2016, at 9 a.m. at Iglesia Triunfante, 7th and Virginia.
