Lee Roy Johnson Obituary

Lee Roy Johnson, 87, loving father, husband and family patriarch, passed away on Feb. 11, 2015, in Alamogordo, after a long illness.

Lee Roy was born on the family ranch in Dusty, NM to parents Marion Oliver and Eppie Johnson.

At only 13 years of age Lee Roy started driving a truck across the country. He became an aircraft mechanic and then a long-time auto mechanic at Mesilla Valley Motor Company. Later he became a building contractor and made the most beautiful custom cabinets in Alamogordo. He also established Alamo tool before retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Nita Johnson, brother Floyd Johnson of Idaho, daughter Barbara Maxwell of Albuquerque, son Robert (Bobby) Johnson of Alamogordo, daughter Reynea Smith and her husband Alan of Michigan, daughter-in-law Linda Johnson of Alamogordo, and son-in-law Arnold Dennison of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bruce Dennison and Joann, Chris Dennison and his wife Jennifer, Kathy Johnson, Monica Nava and her husband Luis, Shaylyn Johnson, Jake Johnson, Tanya Smith, Nichole Smith, Taumi Sanchez, and nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Lee Roy is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Pauline Patchen and Betty Doke, son Dale Johnson and daughter-in-law Cheryl Johnson.

Services will be held at Hamilton O'Dell funeral home in Alamogordo.

Pallbearers include: Jake Johnson, Luis Nava, Bruce Dennison, Chris Dennison, Samuel Dennison and Caleb Dennison. Honorary Pallbearers include: Don Staples, Earl Joiner, Doug Hall, Arnold Dennison and all his coffee buddies at Our Country Kitchen.
