Leo F. Schorn Jr. Obituary
Leo F. Schorn Jr., after a long battle with cancer, died in his sleep at home Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, just 10 days shy of his 67th birthday. He may have lost the battle, but he won the war. He is now in the presence of God.
Leo was born in Roswell Feb. 19, 1943, to Leo and Frances Schorn. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Rosemary.
He began his own accounting and tax service business in 1983 with a few friends as clients. The business grew steadily. In 1990 he met the love of his life, Aundria. She later became his wife and business partner.
He had a great desire to help people and lent a helping hand wherever he could. At one time he took steps to become a priest, but he decided helping people in a more practical matter was where his calling lied. He was an active member of St. Jude's Parish of Alamogordo. For years Leo was dedicated to the care of his parents.
Leo took great pleasure in making people laugh. He loved teasing people with different political views.
He is survived by his wife, Aundria, of the family home; two stepdaughters Dianna and John Bariou, of San Angelo, Texas and Beverly Long, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one stepson, Shane and Tammy Curry, of Alamogordo; six grandchildren, Danielle Fralix and Isaac Luechtefeld, Kimberly Slagle, Chaler, Sean and Katie Curry; and one great-grandson, Garrett Fralix. He is also survived by two sisters, Laura and Bobby Worley, of Lubbock, Texas, and Sue Reynolds, of Alamogordo; one brother, Donald Schorn, of Alamogordo; and two nieces and four nephews.
The rosary vigil and recitation of the rosary will take place Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at 5 p.m. at Alamogordo Funeral Home. The Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Jude's Parish Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at 10 a.m. with Father Wayne Herpin as celebrant and Father Bryant Hausfeld as concelebrant. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Jude's Parish hall immediately after interment has taken place.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Schorn, Mike Reynolds, Mike Dixon, Mike Slagle, Shane Curry and John Bariou.
The Schorn family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
