Leonard M. Rawles Obituary
Leonard M. Rawles, 86, of Alamogordo, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011. Leonard (Lenny) was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Gibbstown, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha Lee and Florence Augusta (Thompson) Rawles; a sister, Virginia Lea Mintzer and husband, Samuel H. Boston II; a brother, Douglas Lee Rawles; a nephew, Samuel H. Boston III; and a favorite brother-in-law, Alfred L. Yarbrough.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Yarbrough Rawles, of the family home; a loving daughter and grandson, Thasia Lenae and Thomas James Hale, both of San Antonio, Texas; nephew William Lenard Boston and wife, Barbara, of Wilmington, Del.; nieces Joan Carol Watson and husband, Jan, of Wenonah, N.J., and Faith Boston, of Coral Springs, Fla.; several great-nieces and nephews; and a large number of brothers and sisters-in-law, all of whom will miss him greatly.
Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was present in Japan at the signing of the peace treaty at the war's end.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
The Rawles family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
