Obituary Condolences

Lester Edward Cole, 88, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in Tularosa. He was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Lancaster, Kan., to Lester Henry and Josie Buckles Cole.
Lester was an Air Force tech sergeant who proudly served overseas in World War II. Later he was an education counselor in civil service at Fort Bliss.
Though born in Kansas, he was also an adopted Texas and Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a great humanitarian who couldn't pass up the chance to help less fortunate persons or animals, even at great risk to himself. He was ornery, with a stubborn streak a mile long and loved by family, friends and acquaintances. He was the best father, friend and teacher anyone could wish for and though in a better place will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hesketh Cole; wife, Maxine Osgood Cole; and sons Lester John Cole and David Cole.
Survivors include his sons Craig Cole, Loren Cole and Jonathan Cole and daughter Sandra Cole, all of Tularosa, and son Vernon H. Cole, of Savannah, Ga. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alamogordo Hospice, P.O. Drawer 29, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
The Cole family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
