1906 - 2008 Obituary Condolences
Lillian Margaret Tuttle died July 30 in Morro Bay, Calif. in a local care center. She was 99.
Miss Tuttle was born in 1909 in Victoria, Texas but grew up and attended local schools in Coffeyville, Kan. She received her bachelor and masters degrees in education at the Univ. of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. She taught in Coffeyville, Kan. and Capitan but spent most of her teaching career as head of the History Dept. at Alamogordo High School. Her greatest love outside of teaching was playing bridge which she played well up to the age of 95.
Miss Tuttle received many accolades as a teacher including being inducted to the National Education Association-New Mexico Hall of Fame, President of the Alamogordo Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Alamogordo High School 1959 yearbook was dedicated to her as she was a favorite teacher in the high school. A long-time member of the Presbyterian Church, she was also a member of P.E.O. in Alamogordo and Vancouver, Wash.
She is survived by her niece, Ann Kirkpatrick Patry, of Morro Bay, Calif., nephew, Roger Kirkpatrick of Longmont, Colo., two grand-nieces, three grand-nephews and their children.
