1930 - 2008 Obituary Condolences
Lois Annice Brock, 78, went to be with her Lord Saturday, May 24, 2008, after having suffered for nine years with Alzheimer's. Her daughter and son-in-law were with her at Baylor Hospital-Grapevine on the evening of her death.
Lois was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Dean and Clara Stukas Burgett. She lived in Sioux City until she completed high school and moved to New Mexico. She met and dated Gene T. Brock in Albuquerque and they married on Oct. 12, 1950. To this union, two children were born, Trudy Lynn and Craig Randall. Lois was employed by the Credit Bureau in Albuquerque until the family relocated to Carlsbad, where she also worked for the Credit Bureau. In 1957, the family moved to Alamogordo. Lois was a homemaker until 1969, when she opened one of Alamogordo's premier gift shops and bridal registry, Casa Decor. Lois was very active in the Alamogordo community, serving as an advisory member on the Board of Directors for Security Bank and Trust, the Women's Hospital Auxiliary and being an active member in First Assembly of God church, and later one of the founding members of Christ Community Church.
In 1976, Lois relocated to Orange, Calif., where she continued her career path as a retailer with Neiman-Marcus in Irvine. Wanting to be closer to her children, she transferred with Neiman's to Dallas, Texas in 1990. A few years later, she became a professional caregiver for the Ivan Wells family of Grapevine.
Her survivors include her daughter, Trudy L. Routh and her husband, Bob, of Bedford, Texas and her son, Craig R. Brock of Tulsa, Okla.
A private, family memorial will be held Saturday, June 21. Her inurnment will be in the columbarium of Christ Community Church.
