Lois Maxine Harder Obituary
Lois Maxine Harder was born the fifth of six children to Alvena and Edward Hoffbauer in Blue Grass, Iowa, on May 22, 1924. She passed away in Alamogordo on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012.
She is survived by her children Leslee Sue Walters of Portland, Ore., Marten James Harder, of Ojai, Calif., and Joseph Kent Harder, of San Antonio, Texas; sister Gert Wells, of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Harder; brother Edward; and three sisters, Elaine, Margery and Gene.
Lois was a resident of Alamogordo since 1963 and was active in local and state politics, as well as the American Cancer Society, the Flickinger Theater Auxilary and the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She gave hope to many people, touched the lives of many more, and will remain in our hearts forever. Her last years were full of challenges that she met head-on with the help of her friends Adelin Schauer, Martha Ryerson and Ramona Juarez, and the wonderful staff at Good Samaritan-Betty Dare.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later time.
