Obituary Condolences

Lois N. Lackey, 86, a longtime resident of Tularosa, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at her home.
Mrs. Lackey was born May 21, 1921, in Aspen, Colo. She married John W. Lackey in 1944 and they moved to Tularosa in 1949. In 1956 she became the secretary to the superintendent of Tularosa Public Schools. She retired in 1987, having served seven superintendents during her 31 years there. She was a member of the Tularosa United Methodist Church and the Tularosa Basin Chapter #72, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her son Roy Lackey and his wife Machele, of Tularosa; four granddaughters, Penny Rossman and her husband Matthew, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Danielle Roberts and her husband Steven, of Alamogordo, Cassie Carraway and her husband Mike, of Levelland, Texas, and Laura Lackey and her fiance Kevin Summers, of Las Cruces; two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Carraway, of Levelland, and Alyssa Roberts, of Alamogordo; a niece, Alice Nicholson, of Colorado; and two nephews, Hod E. Nicholson and his family, of Denver, and Mark Nicholson, of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hod and Polena Nicholson; her husband, John W. Lackey, in 1982; a son, John E. Lackey; and a brother, Hod D. Nicholson and his wife Carol.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tularosa United Methodist Church with Pastor Victor Colton officiating.
Committal services will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Tularosa Basin Chapter #72, Order of the Easter Star officiating.
Pallbearers will be James Goforth Jr., Jerry Spurlin, Jack Myers, Steven Roberts, Kevin Summers and Wiley Resendez.
Services are under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
