Obituary Condolences

Lorenzo Aragon Otero entered eternal life with our Heavenly Father on Oct. 2, 2008, at the Mesilla Valley Hospice Facility-La Posada in Las Cruces.
He was born in Gallinas, N.M., on March 2, 1927. He spent most of his childhood and adult years in Capitan. He later joined the Army in 1945. He served in World War II and the Korean War, and he remained a proud U.S. veteran. He joined the Army National Guard in 1968 and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3242. He enjoyed playing the acoustic and bass guitar, and he often volunteered to play for Sunday church services.
He met and married Deloris Badial Camacho in 1953 in Alamogordo, and this is where they made their home and raised their six children. He survived by his loving spouse of 55 years, Deloris Otero, and his children Margarita Kicklighter, Lawrence Otero, Irma Otero and Annette Nunez (husband Michael); grandchildren Lareina Porras, Lorenzo Reyes, Carlos Otero, Michael Reyes, Antonio Jacquez, Elizabeth Jacquez; great-grandchildren Deja Lazo, Whisper Porras, Vincent Porras, Tommy Reyes, Anthony Reyes, Sindri Pierce, Isabella Reyes; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His surviving sisters are Josephine Freeman of Milpitas, Calif., Corina Stogden of Alamogordo and Elsie Salazar of Flagstaff, Ariz.
He preceded in death by his two daughters, Gloria Jean Jacquez and Cathryn Diane Mancha.
A visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., where a memorial service will follow at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home at 555 West Amador in Las Cruces. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at 2 p.m. at La Paz-Graham's Chapel, and the burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Inez (Naya) Benitez from Iglesia Baptista Getsemani of Alamogordo will be officiating the services.
Pallbearers are Lorenzo Reyes, Michael Reyes, Antonio Jacquez, Michael Nunez, Jerry Martinez and Leo Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Otero, Fermin Otero, Pancho Levya, Johnny Benavidez, George DeVara, Lareina Porras, Elizabeth Jacquez and Carlos Ortero.
