Loretta Mae Parks Obituary
Loretta Mae Parks was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Las Cruces to Forrest and Ola Bellows. She passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at home in Tularosa surrounded by her family.
Loretta graduated from Alamogordo High School and spent most of her years being a wonderful, stay-at-home wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
She enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets for family and friends. She will be remembered for her strength, stubbornness and love of her family and friends. She is remembered by many she grew up with as "Sissy."
Loretta is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clyde "Sonny" Parks, of the family home; son Joe Lee Parks and daughter Lorena Jo Stovall and her husband, John, of Tularosa; brothers Pat and his wife, Diana, of Tularosa, Bill and his wife, Kathy, of Saratoga, Wyo., and David and his wife, J.R., of Alamogordo; sisters Mickie and her husband, Leroy, of Chama, Rennie and her husband, Bill, of Manhatten, Kan., and Doris and her husband, Mark, of Alamogordo; and grandchildren Fawna Caldwell and her husband, Johnny, and Monica Coble, Echo Parks and Lorrie Parks, all of Las Cruces; Crystal Stovell of Alpine, Texas; Dean Moffit and his wife, Candy, of Farmington; Tracy Foster and her husband, James, of Aztec; and Cari Little and her husband, David, of Virginia.
Loretta is also survived by her best friend, Marybeth Turbeville, as well as many cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws; a beloved son, Michael Roy Parks; brother Gorman Bellows; daughter-in-law Alberta Parks; and sisters-in-law Dana Bellows and Mary Cook.
Loretta requested cremation with no services. She only wanted everyone to remember their time with her as happy and joyful.
The Parks family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
