1923 - 2014 Obituary Condolences

Lou Lee (McCown) Trexler, 91, passed away on Oct. 1, 2014, in Alamogordo. She was born on July 24, 1923, in Hugo, Okla., to John and Daisy (Scott) McCown.

Lou met her future husband, Bill Trexler, at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Calif., where she worked in optics, rebuilding submarine periscopes. They were married in 1950. Lou and Bill moved from Vallejo with their son, Ed to Cloudcroft in 1954. They then moved to Alamogordo where their son Allen as born at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in 1956. Lou became a stay at home mom, homemaker and housewife. Lou Lee Trexler was a good Christian woman. She was a wonderful mother to her two sons and to her granddaughter.

Lou suffered from declining health over the last two-and-one-half years. She spent 14 months in Las Cruces staying at the Village at Northrise, Memorial Hospital, and Mountain View Hospital. In Alamogordo she stayed at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center, The Aristocrat, Casa Arena Blanca and Betty Dare Center.

Survivors include a son, William E. (Ed) Trexler, Jr. of Alamogordo; son, Allen (Debra) Trexler of Midland, Texas; a granddaughter, Kaley Deater of Cloudcroft, another granddaughter, Cindy Trexler of Midland, Texas, and a brother, Perry (Sylvia) McCown of Sun City, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her father, John McCown, her mother, Daisy McCown; a stepmother, Glady McCown, and her husband of 41 years, Bill Trexler, as well as three brothers and four sisters.

There will be no public services.

The Trexler family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. Cremation will take place at PCS.
