Louise Weed Pattison Williams, 103, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Center.
Mrs. Williams was born May 28, 1905, in Ariton, Ala., to William Washington and Bannie (Barnes) Weed. After graduating from high school she quickly took a job teaching typing and secretarial skills. She moved on to be a telegrapher and eventually began a career as a draftswoman prior to the start of World War II. Using her drafting skills, she worked for the Corps of Engineers, the Hamilton Standard Corporation, Thompson Products Corporation and finally for the city of St. Petersburg, Fla., until her retirement in 1974. Shortly thereafter, she and her husband, Harry Williams, made their home in Alamogordo.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the First Baptist Church since moving to Alamogordo in 1975. She has served the church in a number of capacities, as a Sunday school teacher, Women's Missionary Union president and as a nursery worker. Gardening, especially growing roses, was one of her favorite hobbies. She was a charter member of the Sunshine Auxiliary at Betty Dare Nursing Center and used her fondness of growing roses to beautify the grounds of the nursing center.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Pattison and his wife, Mary Lou, of Alamogordo, and Stanley Pattison and his wife, Jerri, of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kathy Fuller and her husband, Tom, of Alamogordo, William Pattison Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Jupiter, Fla., Joe Pattison and his wife, Marsha, of Minneapolis, Pamela Rogers and her husband, Jim, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Rob Roy Pattison and his wife, Cindy, of Jacksonville, and Shawn Pattison and his wife, Suzanne, of Jacksonville; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Earl Pattison and Harry Williams, and a brother, William Howard Weed.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 11, 2009, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Richardson officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Fuller, Patrick Fuller, Bill Pattison Jr., Joe Pattison, Doc Kosinski, Elmer Schalk and Richard Kondo.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
