Lovonia Catherine (Varner) Robertson fell asleep in death on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at her home in Alamogordo. Lovonia was born on November 17, 1937, in Sylacauga, Ala., a daughter to the late Robert and Hannah (Crow) Varner. She married Bill Robertson in July of 1956. They had four children together and were divorced in 1974.
Lovonia was our beloved Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grand Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She was a very loving, kind, selfless, and spiritual person. She was also very conscious of her relationship with God and has been a faithful witness of Jehovah for more than 50 years. Her faith about her future was very strong and she has an assured hope of the resurrection to come in Paradise Earth.
Lovonia was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law Hattie Harris; her infant daughter Deborah; her sister, Lucille (Duke) Ragland; sisters-in-law Sarah Varner and Olivia Robertson; brothers Edward Yancey, Carvin, Harold W., William, and Robert Varner.
Lovonia is survived by her ex-husband Bill Robertson, her children Denita (Melvin) Tharpe, Kevin (Laura) Robertson, Sheryl (Milan) Parks; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Bill (Bonnie) Varner, Grady (Eloise) Varner, Virgil Varner, brother-in-law James Robertson, sisters-in-law Mary Robertson, Ruth, Elsie, Maggie and Francis Varner; cousin Josie Crow; beloved life-long friend Helen Baca; a host of other relatives and friends and over seven million spiritual brothers and sisters among the worldwide association of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services will be conducted by Rocky Scrimshire and will be held at the Alamogordo Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1401 12th Street on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 2pm.
A private inurnment service will be held at a later date in Knoxville, Tenn.
