Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend
Lucy Anaya Rodriguez, 69, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas, after battling cancer for three and a half years. She was born July 31, 1940, in Alamogordo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lupe Anaya Granados, and her dad, Pablo Anaya Sr.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Manuel A. Rodriguez Jr., of San Antonio, Texas; her son Gregory Allen Mars, of Tularosa; her daughters Veronica Lynn Mars and Donna Aragon and her husband, Donald; her son Manuel Alfred Rodriguez; and her daughter Monica Amber Rodriguez, all of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with the ninth due in May. Survivors also include her three brothers, Paul Anaya Jr., of Alamogordo, Gonie (Gabe) Anaya, of Albuquerque, and Tony Anaya, of Alamogordo; five sisters, Lore Anaya, of Alamogordo, Carmen Anaya, of Alamogordo, Annie Anaya, of Irving, Texas, Patsy Anaya, of Alamogordo, and Susan Brusellas, of Winkleman, Ariz.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including uncle and aunt Ben and Martha Misquez.
Lucy Anaya Rodriguez had been a resident of San Antonio, Texas, since 1970. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in San Antonio. Lucy was co-owner/operator of M Rod Tax Services. She was also a member of Guadalupanos, Acts Prayer Group, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Religious Ed./RCIA volunteer and the Rosary Guild.
Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel by Linda Villabisencio. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Bryant Hausfeld as celebrant. A reception is to follow at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall. All friends and family are welcome.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Gregory Albert "Beto" Mars, Manuel Cordero, Joe Gonzales Jr., Drake Osborne, Isaiah Aragon and Tommy Brusuelas. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim V., Robert Misquez, Chuy Serna, Joe Haney, Estevan Anaya and Brian Kinneri.
